Connecting DEWA electricity and water

How to activate DEWA at your new MAK Homes apartment, including the deposit amounts.

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) supplies electricity and water to all MAK Homes communities. Tenants open the DEWA account in their own name.

Steps to activate

  1. Get your Ejari certificate from MAK Homes. DEWA needs your Ejari number.
  2. Activate online at dewa.gov.ae or in the DEWA app using "Move-in" service.
  3. Pay the refundable DEWA security deposit:
    • AED 2,000 for apartments
    • AED 4,000 for villas and townhouses
  4. Supply is usually live within 24 hours.

Cooling (chiller) charges

  • MAK Marina Heights and MAK Creek Residences use district cooling (Empower). Open a separate cooling account; the deposit is AED 1,000–2,000 depending on the unit size.
  • MAK Palm Gardens and MAK Downtown Lofts have chiller-free units. AC runs on the DEWA electricity bill.

Moving out

Ask DEWA for a final bill at least 3 days before you move out. We need a DEWA clearance certificate before we can refund your security deposit.
