Signing your lease and renters insurance
How lease signing works, what you pay at signing, and the renters insurance requirement.
Once your application is approved, we email your lease for electronic signature. Every adult living in the home signs the lease.
What you pay at signing
- Security deposit: one month's rent
- First month's rent (prorated if you move in mid-month)
- Pet deposit, if applicable (see Pet policy)
Pay online on the tenant portal by bank transfer (free) or card (2.95% processing fee). Your home is reserved once the lease is signed and payment is received.
Renters insurance
Renters insurance is required for all MAK Homes leases.
- Minimum $100,000 personal liability coverage
- List MAK Homes as an "additional interested party"
- Upload proof of insurance on the tenant portal before move-in
Your lease number and tenant ID (for example T-1001) are printed on your lease. You'll need them when you contact customer care.
